Favored by Cosimo I, it was the object of particular care and its garden, designed in 1538, a year after the young duke’s rise to power, was studied to celebrate the prince’s power through the symbolism of its statues, fountains, and grottoes.
Currently, the villa is not open to the public, but the splendid garden rich in citrus trees and rare plants, decorated with ancient and Renaissance sculptures, can be visited. Of extraordinary charm is the Grotto of the Animals, once animated by water games.
