The Terraces and Vine Ecomuseum was established with the aim of contributing to the recognition of terraced landscapes as monumental works of human effort, wisdom, and patience, telling the story, traditions, and lifestyles of the societies that originally built them and still preserve them today. The beauty of the terraced landscape holds great intellectual and social value, as well as environmental: it tells the story of a community that managed to find a way to survive by making the best use of the resources available. It bears witness to the rural world and its millenary culture.
The “Terraces Roads” feature routes that use trails, country paths, secondary and paved roads, offering itineraries lasting a few hours or a whole day. Each route highlights a particular aspect of the ecomuseum area: ranging from historical-architectural paths to those fully immersed in a nature shaped by humans. Special attention has been given to thematic routes, designed to offer the simplest and most complete overview of rural life in the High Langa: one path is dedicated to popular religiosity, another to the “Scau” (round drying sheds), leading to the discovery of a historical and architectural reality far from the classic image of the Piedmontese farming world.
