The name was given to the building by Neapolitan antiquarians following the discovery of marble bas-reliefs with figures of dogs and deer, as well as a marble fragment where the name of the goddess seems to have been read. The structure appears as a large circular plan hall inscribed in an octagon, built in opus listatum up to the springing of the arches covering the large windows; above it is in opus latericium up to the dome’s base, which had a pointed shape and today appears sectioned, made with progressively projecting rings, constructed with tuff shards and bricks. The rotunda could be identified as a natatio, related to the presence of natural hot and cold thermal springs on site.
