Iglesias, a city with an ancient mining tradition, has hosted an important mineralogical museum since 1871, located in the Mining Institute, an imposing Liberty-style building.
The exhibition is on the mezzanine floor, the ground floor houses old training equipment, while the first floor contains the library and the administration offices. The museum consists of two large halls and preserves numerous specimens of minerals, fossils, and industrial archaeology artifacts.
