Iglesias, city with an ancient mining tradition, has hosted an important mineralogical museum since 1871 whose headquarters is the Mining Institute, an imposing building in Liberty style.
The exhibition is on the raised floor, the ground floor houses old training equipment, while the first floor contains the library and the presidency. The museum consists of two large halls and preserves multiple specimens of minerals, fossils, and industrial archaeology finds.
