Iglesias, city with an ancient mining tradition, has hosted since 1871 an important mineralogical museum whose headquarters is the Mining Institute, an imposing building in Liberty style.
The exhibition is on the mezzanine floor, the ground floor houses old training equipment, while on the first floor there are the library and the presidency. The museum consists of two large halls and preserves multiple specimens of minerals, fossils, and industrial archaeology artifacts.
