Sa Carcaredda Area, Villagrande Strisaili

The temple is located in the locality “Funtana ‘e Binu”, in an elevated position, not far from the upper Flumendosa lake, on the border between Ogliastra and Barbagia. The complex includes the temple, a village, and four giant’s tombs. The temple, made with polygonal granite blocks, is a rare example of Nuragic structure. On the floor, there was a ritual hearth made with small limestone blocks covered by a layer of clay; above were other limestone blocks, linked together by lead clamps and, on the outer side, with engraved decorations imitating a quadrilobate nuraghe. Inside the temple, numerous votive bronzes and tools have been found.
