The museum is located at the Institute of Geology of the University and boasts several collections of significant scientific value for reconstructing the paleoenvironmental history of the territory. Among others, it features fossil cetacean remains, complete and partial skeletons from the Villafranchian floods of Monte Giogo and the Po Valley area. The museum also houses materials from the Strobel collection, with important remains of the Italian terramare and other countries. On display are also series of chipped flints, rocks, and Pliocene fossils.
