The Museum was founded in 1809 in Figline Valdarno, then moved in 1821 to its current location. It collects and displays remains of plants and animals that lived in the Valdarno during the Pliocene and Pleistocene, between 3 million and 100 million years ago. Currently, the Museum is temporarily closed for consolidation and restoration works which are expected to last no less than two years.
