The Museum of the Fathers and Maiolica was inaugurated in 2003 and is set up inside the Laterza Institute of Art. The museum route is divided into two sections. The first section is Archaeological, related to the important prehistoric findings of the Neolithic settlement of Fragenaro and the Hemolithic necropolis of Candile. The second section concerns the local production of Maiolica. Laterza indeed boasts an ancient ceramic tradition evidenced by ancient artifacts dating back to the Magna Graecia and Medieval periods. Particularly significant is the Laertine figurine from the 17th to 18th centuries.
