The museum, owned by Mrs. Rosa Furfari, is located in an apartment belonging to the museum director, on the first floor of a post-war building in the historic center of the city. Its purpose is to enhance and promote a cultural heritage, that of silk and the Calabrian textile tradition in general, which boasts a history of about 1000 years and has strongly influenced the development of the local economy. The museum displays fabrics, clothing, and accessories collected from the mid-1800s to the present day. The artifacts preserved in the museum testify to the textile and silk tradition from the initial processing stage to the finished product. There is also space dedicated to the tools used in processing these fabrics.
