The exhibition at the Museum of Rural Civilization collects objects, around 600, spanning a period from 1850 to 1960. These were actively researched among the local population and also spontaneously donated by numerous citizens. The objects, once restored by the organizers themselves, were cataloged and displayed with an inventory label following the criterion of assembly by activity. Each label reports the name in Italian and in the Vaglio dialect, the year of reference or use, the donor’s name and the user’s name, along with a brief description of the object itself.
Visiting the Museum allows you to discover at a glance the work tools of various peasant activities, but also those of artisans such as the shoemaker, the blacksmith, the carpenter, the cabinetmaker, the mason, the basket maker, and the rope maker.
The household environment is richly equipped with everything that was once essential to daily family life. Everything has been faithfully reproduced relying on the personal memory of the elders, including both male and female costumes.
Visiting the Museum is a good opportunity to remember and reflect on what rural civilization has been, the creator of great human values in progress: family, work, solidarity, closeness, and sobriety in daily life.
