L’allestimento del museo della civiltà rurale raccoglie oggetti, circa 600, che abbracciano un periodo compreso tra il 1850 e il 1960. Essi sono stati oggetto di ricerca attiva tra la popolazione locale e anche dono spontaneo di numerosi cittadini. Gli oggetti, una volta restaurati dagli stessi organizzatori, sono stati catalogati ed esposti con relativo cartellino d’inventario seguendo il criterio dell’assemblaggio per attività. Su ogni cartellino è stato riportato il nome in italiano e in lingua dialettale vagliese, l’anno di riferimento o d’utilizzo, il nome del donatore e quello dell’utilizzatore, oltre ad una breve descrizione dell’oggetto stesso
Visiting the Museum, it is possible to discover at a glance the work tools of the various activities of the farmer, but also those of artisans such as the shoemaker, the blacksmith, the carpenter, the cabinetmaker, the mason, the basket maker, and the barrel maker.
The home environment is richly equipped with everything that was once essential to daily family life. Everything has been faithfully reproduced relying on the personal memory of the elders, including both male and female costumes.
Visiting the Museum is a good opportunity to remember and reflect on what rural civilization has been, the creator of humanity’s great values on the journey: family, work, solidarity, closeness, and sobriety in everyday life.
