Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Paintings, drawings, sculptures, and graphics by local artists form the most significant core of the collection, dated chronologically between the late 19th century and the second half of the 20th century, including works by Baldissara, Cavicchini, Celada, Gambetti, Gorni, Pio and Defendi Semeghini, Viani, Villani, Vincenzi, Viviani, and others. The collections, initially coming from donations by artists and private citizens, have been progressively enriched by important acquisitions that have greatly expanded the collection, most of which are cataloged, inventoried, and photographed. Further enriching the original heritage are works, mainly graphic and pictorial, acquired or donated by the artists themselves or their heirs (including those by Gorni, Carpeggiani, Padova, Gatto, Vincenzi, Gambetti, Bodini, Viviani) following frequent thematic temporary exhibitions periodically organized in the Art Gallery, always dedicated to 20th-century art in the Mantua area.
