Museo d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea. Paintings, drawings, sculptures, and graphics by local artists represent the most significant core of the collection, chronologically dated between the late nineteenth century and the second half of the twentieth century, including works by Baldissara, Cavicchini, Celada, Gambetti, Gorni, Pio e Defendi Semeghini, Viani, Villani, Vincenzi, Viviani, and others. To the collections initially coming from donations by artists and private citizens, important acquisitions have progressively been added, significantly expanding the collection, most of which is catalogued, inventoried, and photographed. Further enriching the original heritage were works, especially graphic and pictorial, acquired or donated by the artists themselves or their heirs (including those of Gorni, Carpeggiani, Padova, Gatto, Vincenzi, Gambetti, Bodini, Viviani) following the frequent temporary thematic exhibitions periodically set up in the Pinacoteca, always dedicated to twentieth-century art in the Mantuan territory.
