Museo d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea. Paintings, drawings, sculptures, and graphics by local artists represent the most significant core of the collection, chronologically dating between the late nineteenth century and the second half of the twentieth century, including works by Baldissara, Cavicchini, Celada, Gambetti, Gorni, Pio and Defendi Semeghini, Viani, Villani, Vincenzi, Viviani, and others. To the collections initially coming from donations by artists and private citizens have been progressively added important acquisitions that have greatly expanded the collection, mostly catalogued, inventoried, and photographed. Further enriching the original heritage are works, especially graphic and pictorial, acquired or donated by the artists themselves or their heirs (including those by Gorni, Carpeggiani, Padova, Gatto, Vincenzi, Gambetti, Bodini, Viviani) following the frequent temporary thematic exhibitions periodically set up in the Pinacoteca, always dedicated to twentieth-century art in the Mantuan territory.
