The building, in classical style, designed by Jacopo Sansovino, was constructed between 1537 and 1553. The hall is decorated with paintings by Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese, and other Renaissance painters, while in the Antechamber, adorned with a painting by Titian, the Statue Museum of the Republic was established at the end of the sixteenth century.

The two rooms, now permanently open to the public, host exhibitions and are part of the integrated route of the Museums of Piazza San Marco (with entrance from the Correr Museum), while the reading rooms have been set up in the adjacent Mint building, also constructed by Sansovino.
The museum is open every day. From April 1 to October 31: from 10 am to 7 pm. From November 1 to March 31: from 10 am to 5 pm. Closed on December 25 and January 1.
