It is a medieval residence, subject to recent architectural restoration works. Inside, there is a loggia and four rooms, two of which, on the main floor, are decorated with 14th-century frescoes by the painter Stefano da Ferrara, and other images of astrological and heraldic nature in the Hall of Coats of Arms. Noteworthy are the ancient decorated ceilings and pictorial fragments including an allegory of Venice and a Saint Christopher-
Adjacent to these rooms is the Hall with the Allegories of Virtues and Vices and the Months, the most important 17th-century pictorial cycle of Ferrara and one of the most famous in northern Italy, owned by the Municipality of Ferrara.
