In the center of the town, once the capital of the Sicilian Valley, which rises on the ridge of the hill between the valley stream and the Chiarino, stands the castle initially belonging to the Orsini counts and then, from the sixteenth century, the residence of the Alarcon de Mendoza marquises. Overlooking the village, the complex consists of at least two blocks and today is the result of numerous renovations. The oldest parts are evidenced by the noble coats of arms of the Orsini and the Spaniards carved on the architraves and walls. Partially collapsed on the cliff side, it still preserves the high sloping wall facing the square. It is currently the seat of the Town Hall and the Museum of Artisan Traditions.
