In the center of the town, once the capital of the Sicilian Valley, which rises on the crest of the hill between the valley stream and the Chiarino, stands the castle initially of the Orsini counts and then, since the sixteenth century, the residence of the Alarcon de Mendoza marquises. Positioned to overlook the village, the complex consists of at least two blocks and is today the result of numerous renovations. The oldest parts are evidenced by the noble coats of arms of the Orsini and the Spaniards carved on the architraves and walls. Partially collapsed on the cliff side, it retains towards the square the high battered wall. It currently houses the Municipality and the Museum of Craft Traditions.
