In the center of the town, once the capital of the Sicilian Valley, rising on the crest of the hill between the valley stream and the Chiarino, stands the castle first of the Orsini counts and then, from the sixteenth century, the residence of the Alarcon de Mendoza marquises. Positioned to dominate the village, the complex consists of at least two blocks and is today the result of numerous renovations. The oldest parts are evidenced by the noble coats of arms of the Orsini and the Spaniards carved on the lintels and on the walls. Partially collapsed on the cliff side, it preserves the high buttressed wall facing the square. It is currently the seat of the Town Hall and the Museum of Craft Traditions.
