The “Mario Morelli” Civic Museum was established in 1997, following the donation of Professor Mario Morelli’s private collection to the Municipality of San Marco Argentano. The collection, housed on the ground floor of the ancient Clarisse convent, now the seat of the Town Hall, consists of 135 paintings; the exhibition path is divided into five rooms, which include canvases linked to the Neapolitan and Roman schools of the seventeenth century, as well as various paintings by Roman and Calabrian painters of the twentieth century. The last room is dedicated to Professor Mario Morelli and features a series of memorabilia and paintings on musical themes dear to the donor.
