Il Museo civico “Mario Morelli” was established in 1997, following the donation of the private collection of Prof. Mario Morelli to the Municipality of San Marco Argentano. The collection, housed on the ground floor of the ancient convent of the Poor Clares, now the Town Hall, consists of 135 paintings; the exhibition path is divided into five rooms, which contain canvases attributable to the Neapolitan and Roman schools of the seventeenth century, as well as various paintings by Roman and Calabrian painters of the twentieth century. The last room is dedicated to Prof. Mario Morelli and features a series of memorabilia and paintings with musical themes dear to the donor.
