The basic idea was to use the literary source as a lens to read the territory, to discover and enhance the various aspects that shape its identity: from cultural and historical to naturalistic, from anthropological to food and wine.
Over the years, Aliano has increasingly become a place of life and inspiration for the writer Carlo Levi. Houses, little streets, as well as landscapes and countryside described in his text, become a cultural and environmental heritage to protect, enhance, and make increasingly accessible to visitors through sensory routes aimed at reviving the memory of the writer and allowing visitors to experience, taste, feel, touch, and observe everything that inspired the author to write historic pages of literature.
The Literary Park “Carlo Levi” is about hospitality, guided tours, spectacular events, and involves activities, food and wine, and handicrafts, carefully managed and promoted with continuity, strongly tied to the territory and which have become a reference point in the local cultural scene. All the initiatives of the Park aim to recover and promote the identity, culture, history, and local traditions, to carry out programs aimed at spreading and increasing knowledge of literature, visual arts, and performing arts, to promote studies, research, conferences, publications, exhibitions, performances, competitions, and literary prizes of special interest.
All efforts are focused on achieving this ambitious goal, therefore not only has the Park been equipped with a headquarters and an information point, but also rooms have been prepared to serve as a collection center for materials about the author and the places, visitor center, library and video library, meetings, conferences, debates, screenings, and performances. Moreover, adequate signage has been installed in the areas included in the Park.
