The small museum collects letters, documents, and drawings related to the exile in Aliano between 1935 and 1936, to which the doctor, writer, and painter Carlo Levi (1902-1975) was condemned by the fascist regime. Particularly interesting are the original lithographs, donated by Levi himself, of Christ Stopped at Eboli. The book, published in 1945, summarizes his experience in the small Lucanian town, where he lived closely with the local population, witnessing the striking discovery of the extreme poverty of the southern peasant civilization.
