The basic idea was to use the literary source as a code for reading the territory, to discover and enhance the different aspects that configure its identity: from the cultural and historical to the naturalistic, from the anthropological to the enogastronomic.
Over the years Aliano has increasingly become a place of life and inspiration for the writer Carlo Levi. Houses, streets, but also landscapes and countryside described in the text, become a cultural and environmental heritage to be protected, enhanced and made increasingly accessible to visitors through sensory paths aimed at reviving the memory of the writer and allowing to experience, taste, feel, touch and observe all that led the author to write historic pages of literature.
The “Carlo Levi” Literary Park is made of hospitality, guided tours, spectacular events, and includes enogastronomic and artisanal activities, diligently managed and enhanced with a spirit of continuity, strongly connected to the territory and that have become a point of reference in the local cultural scene. All the initiatives of the Park aim to recover and enhance the local identity, culture, history and traditions, carry out programs aimed at the dissemination and knowledge of literature, the visual arts and performance, promote studies, research, conferences, publications, exhibitions, shows, contests, literary awards of particular interest.
All efforts are focused on achieving this ambitious goal and therefore not only has the Park been equipped with a headquarters and an information point but also premises have been arranged as a center for collecting material on the author and the places, visitor center, library and video library, meetings, conferences, debates, screenings and shows. Furthermore, adequate signage of the places included in the Park has been created.
