“Filzerhof” Museum Farm, Fierozzo

An ancient farm, a mill, a sawmill, and a mine: together they tell the story and culture of the Mòcheni, a German-speaking people (with a Middle-Upper Bavarian dialect) who arrived in the Fèrsina Valley, the Bersntol, between the 13th and early 15th centuries.

A tradition whose safeguarding and enhancement the Autonomous Province of Trento established by its own law in 1987, creating the “Kulturinstitut Bersntol Lusern,” which in 2005 was split into two autonomous entities: the Mòcheno Institute, based in Palù del Fèrsina, and the Cimbrian Institute, located in Luserna.

The Mòcheno Institute protects and promotes the ethnographic and cultural heritage, especially the linguistic one. In the territory of the Mòcheni Valley, some artifacts preserve and pass on the memory and uniqueness of an ancient culture, also narrated through intensive teaching: museum-places where architecture and objects tell the everyday history of a small people.
