The Environment Museum in Lecce is organized in an exhibition area of 1,000 square meters, within a complex of facilities that includes offices, a study room, collection storage, and a laboratory. Five stations located along the educational path provide access to a computer platform that, in addition to study collection catalogs, a photographic herbarium, and the Department Library catalog, will include interactive programs related to the various sciences showcased by the Museum.
The Museum collaborates with researchers and laboratories engaged in intensive research in the fields of Geology, Paleontology, and Climatology of the Salento geographical area and is dedicated to safeguarding the scientific instrumental heritage of Salento. Great importance is given to temporary exhibitions, also organized at different locations across the regional territory. Currently, the Museum is under renovation, with a planned reopening in autumn (October 2012).”
