The Embroidery Museum was created through the contribution of the Municipality and the Province of Pistoia along with the MOICA housewives association, which has always been committed to preserving local traditions. Pistoia’s fortune in the field of whitework embroidery began in the 19th century, following an ever-growing demand for personal and household linen, enriched with intricate embroideries that highlighted the value and social status of those who owned them.
