It is part of the ice itinerary of the Pistoiese Mountain Ecomuseum. It represents a production unit for natural ice production along the Reno Valley (an activity present from the mid-18th century until the 1930s) made operational following restoration work. The unit is accessible via a trail suitable for walking and mountain biking along which all the works necessary for ice production can be observed, including the impressive icehouse of the Madonnina.
