The Museum was established after the renovation of a wing of the Ducal Palace of Villa Castelli which hosts the Archaeological Exhibition. The Castle is a building somewhere between a fortress and a noble residence. What can be seen today is the result of a series of modifications that have followed since the 14th century. Medieval features are still visible, such as the ancient tower. Partially renovated, it is now also home to the town hall and the municipal art gallery. A small portion of the structure is privately owned, while the parish, dedicated to the Most Holy Crucifix in 1830, holds a wing of the castle (former stables). The southern facade completely incorporates the ancient keep into the architectural complex, now the Council Hall. The Castle is bordered to the south and east by a deep ravine; on the ground floor, the original structure and the interior appearance of the fortification until the 19th century can be recognized. The first floor has facades with strictly vertical surfaces, lightened by windows. The entrance hall has barrel vaults. The staircase leads to the upper-floor balcony, where windows and doors overlook, adorned with frames made in the 20th century in Renaissance style.
