The Civic Gallery of Modern Art was founded in 1910 in the premises of the Politeama Theatre, by the strong will of Empedocle Restivo, to whom it is dedicated. Since 2006, the museum has been housed in the Sant’Anna alla Misericordia complex, dating back to the late 15th century. The collection displayed at the Civic Gallery of Modern Art (GAM) gathers works created by southern and Palermo artists between the late 18th century and the early 20th century.
