The Civic Gallery of Modern Art was founded in 1910 in the premises of the Politeama Theater, at the strong behest of Empedocle Restivo, to whom it is dedicated. Since 2006, the museum has been housed in the Sant’Anna alla Misericordia complex, dating back to the late 15th century. The collection exhibited in the Civic Gallery of Modern Art (GAM) gathers works created by southern and Palermitan artists between the late eighteenth century and the early twentieth century.
