The building of the State Archive of Rome, of which only the foundations and supporting structures had been completed before the war, was finished in the 1950s through the initiative of Virgilio Testa, extraordinary commissioner of the EUR Authority, making the necessary modifications to adapt the palace to the needs of the Institute.
In the 1990s, the interior spaces underwent a redesign: on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the ACS, the new rooms intended for the public (entrance, study room, library, conference hall) were inaugurated, designed by architect Giulio Savio. The spaces, enriched by painting and sculptural works by Angelo Cucciarelli, Piero D’Orazio, Carlo Lorenzetti, Paolo Pasticci, have recently been further embellished thanks to donations from other contemporary artists, constituting a small but significant museum nucleus.
