The building, for half a century a center for graphic and artistic production and a meeting place for intellectuals of the caliber of D’Annunzio, Pirandello, Grazia Deledda, Ada Negri, Guido Gozzano, Umberto Saba, Vincenzo Bucci, Federigo Tozzi, Goffredo Bellonci, F.T. Marinetti, Giovanni Pascoli, Salvator Gotta and many others, was donated by Basilio Cascella in 1966 to the municipality of Pescara, which opened a museum dedicated to the artist in 1975. The collection houses paintings, sculptures, as well as graphic and plastic works, by Basilio himself and other members of the Cascella family of artists: his sons Tommaso, Michele, and Gioacchino.
