The Apricena Civic Museum was established thanks to the synergy created by the local branch of the Archeoclub of Italy, the Municipal Administration, and the Gargano National Park Authority. The Archeoclub of Italy, Apricena branch, worked with the various Municipal Administrations over time to ensure that the many artifacts collected were appropriately housed in a newly established Civic Museum. The premises were identified at Palazzo Paolicelli. These premises, built in the 18th century by the prominent family after which it is named, are now publicly owned and located in the historic center. They were renovated thanks to targeted funding from the Gargano National Authority. With Palazzo Paolicelli, renamed as the “Palace of Culture,” inaugurated in March 2010 and managed by the Archeoclub, the municipality of Apricena created a cultural center that includes the Civic Museum with artifacts from paleontology to the Middle Ages, the Municipal Library, the Historical Archive, and the Media Library dedicated to the figure of Frederick II, as well as a thematic museum on the Middle Ages and the figure of the Emperor.
