The Antiquarium houses a selection of materials from some archaeological sites in the Arianese area, a part of Irpinia located at the crossroads of natural transit routes from the Campanian plain to the Adriatic coast. The exhibition includes a selection of materials found in the prehistoric settlement at La Starza in Ariano Irpino, which, from the 5th millennium BC, with short interruptions, was inhabited throughout the entire protohistoric period up to the threshold of the Iron Age. One room is dedicated to the Samnite settlement of Casalbore, located along the Pescasseroli-Candela cattle track, where a group of tumulus tombs dating to the 6th century BC was identified, as well as a sacred complex in the area of Macchia Porcara centered around an Italic temple datable to the 3rd century BC. For the Roman and medieval period, the exhibition illustrates the results of explorations conducted in the locality of S. Eleuterio, where a center (vicus) identified as Aequum Tuticum was discovered.
