The complex has long housed the headquarters of Slow Food, the popular association that has contributed to the preservation and revival of several typical Italian food productions; the University of Gastronomic Sciences, unique in Italy, and, for some time now, also the Wine Bank, a special organization that serves as a place for preserving the historical memory of the best Italian wine productions.
Here, in the large royal cellars, the bottles sent by about 300 producers, selected throughout the national territory based on quality and strictness in grape processing methods, rest for years, constantly studied and monitored by the Bank’s experts, who guarantee proper aging and refining.
One of the most interesting things about this Bank is that it is not a closed organization for insiders only, but a reality open to the world, to all those who wish to broaden their horizons regarding wine.
With a simple reservation, you can participate in the “walks with a glass in hand,” guided tastings in different languages among regional wine productions. At the Tasting Workshops, seminars and laboratories, where wine is paired with local cured meats and cheeses. And dinners with fun “blind” tastings, with a blindfold on the eyes, to recognize wines by smell and taste.
