Merano Christmas Markets 2021
In the capital of South Tyrolean wellness, Christmas is a mix of innovation and tradition just like the spirit of this city. The Merano Christmas Market has its beating heart in the houses with refined design that adorn the entire promenade along the Passirio, unique in their kind for shape and aesthetics, hosting crafts and quality local products: not only local cuisine dishes and freshly baked bread but also wooden objects, scented candles, creations made from sheep’s wool, and surprising decorations in artistic glass or ceramics.
Making the atmosphere of the festively illuminated city center streets even more special is the traditional life-sized Advent Calendar which, every day from December 1st, is ready to reveal through the windows of the Palais Mamming in Piazza Duomo, an object from the museum including pieces never before exhibited.
Christmas Markets Merano 2020
As in all of South Tyrol, this year the Christmas markets will not be held in Merano either.
Christmas in Merano 2020
The upcoming Christmas will be different from the others but certainly more heartfelt, more intimate. It returns to the original spirit of Christmas, which is based on the concepts of family, love, and respect. Advent in Merano will therefore focus entirely on the atmosphere and the true feelings of people.
The city of Merano has rescheduled the period leading up to Christmas – without the traditional Markets – and Advent will be marked by hundreds of thousands of lights. Next December will not feature the Christmas Markets along the Passirio river but will be a more intimate, heartfelt, and warm Advent. In this way, the city of Merano prepares to experience the most beautiful time of the year by focusing on light and feelings. Thousands and thousands of lights will color the city, wrapping it in a warm embrace, allowing everyone to savor and enjoy Christmas, even those who will have to experience it from home, illuminating symbolic points as well as lesser-known corners, such as the Steinach district. Moreover, it will be possible to walk along the Tappeiner Promenade in the evening as well, thanks to the new lighting system that was installed in October in the section from Powder Tower to the Serpentina above Galilei street. Not only lights but also torch-lit walks. Some routes, the Christmas Walks, have been designed to allow everyone to walk outdoors, discovering the most beautiful and hidden corners of the city of Merano. At the Tourist Office, it will be possible to collect a lantern with a candle for a romantic walk and to complete the Christmas Walks, returning the lantern at the end of the route.

Christmas Markets Merano 2018
The Christmas Markets in Merano, which herald the arrival of the festive season, from November 23 to January 6, will open their doors to all visitors. From this date onwards, in fact, the banks of the Passirio river, in the center of Merano, will host the Christmas Markets that will anticipate the warmth and magic of the Holidays.
The choirs, concerts with wind instruments, and numerous unmissable stalls will make the beginning of winter warm, offering local delicacies and handcrafted pieces, ideal souvenirs to give during the holidays. The Christmas Markets of Merano will develop along the promenade that runs along the banks of the Passirio river, right in the city center and, besides offering objects, will show artisans at work: from the blacksmith forging metal on the hot fire, to the artists carving wood, to the making of felt slippers.
Mercatini Merano 2018: was man essen sollte
Christmas Markets in Merano: over 200 thousand visitors
This is the number of visitors who every year stroll along the Passirio River to shop or admire the stalls of the Christmas Markets of Merano.
The Merano Market is certified Green Event by the Ecoistituto Alto Adige, for being designed and carried out with respect for the environment, thus with a sparing approach to resources, from proper waste management to the use of local and seasonal products.
Mercatini Natale Merano: Evento Green
