Merano Christmas Markets 2020
As in all of South Tyrol, this year the Christmas markets are not taking place even in Merano.
Christmas in Merano 2020
The upcoming Christmas will be different from others but certainly more heartfelt, more intimate. We return to the original spirit of Christmas, based on the concepts of family, love, and respect. Advent in Merano will therefore focus entirely on the atmosphere and the true feelings of people.
The city of Merano has rescheduled the period leading up to Christmas – without the traditional Markets – and Advent will be marked by hundreds of thousands of lights. Next December will not be characterized by the presence of Christmas Markets along the Passirio river but will be a more intimate, heartfelt, and warm Advent. In this way, the city of Merano is preparing to experience the most beautiful time of the year, focusing on light and feelings. Thousands and thousands of lights will color the city, wrapping it in a warm embrace, allowing everyone to savor and enjoy Christmas, even those who will have to experience it from home, illuminating symbolic points as well as lesser-known corners, like the Steinach district. Furthermore, it will be possible to walk along the Tappeiner Promenade in the evening, thanks to the new lighting system installed in October on the section from Torre polveriera to Serpentina above via Galilei. Not only lights but also torchlight walks. Itinerary routes, the Christmas Walks, have been designed to allow everyone to walk outdoors and discover the most beautiful and hidden corners of the city of Merano. At the Tourist Office it will be possible to pick up a lantern with a candle for a romantic walk and to follow the Christmas Walks, returning the lantern at the end of the route.

Merano Christmas Markets 2018
The Christmas Markets in Merano, which herald the arrival of the festive season, will open their doors to all visitors from November 23 to January 6. Starting from this date, the banks of the Passirio river, in the center of Merano, will host the Christmas Markets that will anticipate the warmth and magic of the Holidays.
The choirs, concerts with wind instruments, and the unmissable numerous stalls will make the beginning of winter warm, offering local delicacies and handcrafted pieces, ideal souvenirs to give during the holidays. The Christmas Markets of Merano will develop along the promenade that runs along the banks of the Passirio river, in the heart of the city, and, in addition to offering items, will show artisans at work: from the blacksmith who forges metal on live fire, to the artists who carve wood, to the making of felt slippers.
Mercatini Merano 2018: was essen
Always for the little ones, and according to local custom, on December 5th and 6th children will have the opportunity to meet San Nicolò, patron saint of the city of Merano, together with his faithful servant Knecht Ruprecht and, while the Saint distributes sweets, Knecht Ruprecht will give the naughtiest children pieces of coal.
In Piazza del Duomo, near the Christmas Market, a small window of the large Advent calendar will be opened every day around 4:45 PM.
Christmas Markets in Merano: over 200,000 visitors
This is the number of visitors who walk along the Passirio river every year to shop or admire the stands of the Christmas Markets of Merano.
The Merano Market is certified as a Green Event by the Ecoistituto Alto Adige, because it has been designed and realized with respect for the environment, therefore, with a careful approach to resources, from proper waste management to the use of local and seasonal products.
Mercatini Natale Merano: Evento Green
