After a long restoration lasting two years, the Special Superintendence for the Archaeological Heritage of Rome reopens the octagonal hall of the Baths of Diocletian in Rome, more commonly known as The Planetarium.

This Roman octagonal hall, since its inauguration on October 28, 1928, held the record for the largest planetarium in Europe for a long time.

The consolidation operations ensured the safety of the complex, restoring the consistency and stability of the ancient structures. A careful work of micro sandblasting at controlled pressure on the intrados of the dome of the Rotunda Diocletiani has, in fact, uncovered the original masonry texture and the ribs of the ancient vault.
