After a long two-year restoration, the Special Superintendency for the Archaeological Heritage of Rome has reopened the Octagonal Hall of the Baths of Diocletian in Rome, more commonly known as The Planetarium.

This Roman octagonal hall, since its inauguration on October 28, 1928, held the record as the largest planetarium in Europe for a long time.

The consolidation operations ensured the safety of the complex, restoring strength and stability to the ancient structures. A careful process of micro-sandblasting with controlled pressure on the intrados of the Rotunda Diocletiani dome has revealed the original masonry pattern and ribs of the ancient vault.
