Born to celebrate the noble nectar, the WiMu – Wine Museum is the innovative wine museum located inside the Falletti Castle of Barolo, near Cuneo.
The museum – created by the imagination of François Confino, author of numerous museum setups worldwide including the Cinema Museum in the Mole Antonelliana and the brand new Automobile Museum of Turin – is a journey through the five senses exploring the production, culture, and tradition of wine. WiMu is designed to offer a playful complement to the tourist’s experience who in this area – within a few kilometers – can visit local wineries and producers amid medieval castles. The WiMu visit itinerary is a celebration of wine across twenty-five rooms arranged over five floors.
The Wine Museum is also a tribute to the history of the Falletti Marquises’ Castle and the illustrious figures who lived there: Marquis Carlo Tancredi Falletti and his spouse, Marchioness Juliette Colbert, better known as Giulia of Barolo, and the patriot Silvio Pellico, one of the main protagonists of the Italian Risorgimento, who was librarian here and whose study-room has been preserved intact.
