Born to celebrate the noble nectar, the WiMu – Wine Museum is the innovative wine museum, located inside the Castello Falletti di Barolo, near Cuneo.
The museum – created by the imagination of François Confino, author of numerous museum installations worldwide including the Cinema Museum in the Mole Antonelliana and the brand new Automobile Museum of Turin – is a journey of the five senses through the production, culture, and tradition of wine. The WiMu is designed to offer a playful complement to the tourist experience who can visit the wineries and local producers in the area within a few kilometers among medieval castles. The WiMu visit path is a celebration of wine in twenty-five rooms spread over five floors.
The Wine Museum is also a tribute to the history of the Castello dei Marchesi Falletti and the illustrious characters who inhabited it: the Marquis Carlo Tancredi Falletti and his wife, the Marchioness Juliette Colbert, better known as Giulia di Barolo, and the patriot Silvio Pellico, among the great protagonists of the Italian Risorgimento, who was librarian here and whose studio-room is preserved intact.
