Breakfast is usually included in the room price, and almost all hotels in Sweden offer discounted rates of 30-40% during the summer season (from mid-June to mid-August) and on weekends.
Through the most important and well-known hotel chains, you can purchase a card or discount vouchers valid at all hotels within the same network.
Castles and Historic Residences
Beautiful and welcoming are also castles and historic residences, converted into hotels (often presented under the names Countrysidehotels, Romantic Hotels, and Historic Hotels), mostly scattered in the countryside, especially in the regions of Sodermanland and Uppland around Stockholm, framed by lakes, nature parks, and lush golf courses.
Comfortable, clean, affordable, and recommendable are the hostels, called Vandrarhem, found throughout the country and offering a good level of services.
Most are managed by the Swedish Touring Club and guarantee pleasant and friendly hospitality. Rooms typically have 2, 4, or more beds; family groups can choose accommodations with kitchen use, and the use of bed linens is mandatory (sleeping bags are not allowed).
