The Aldobrandini Stables, already visible in Matheus Greuter’s 1620 engraving, were originally built as a service structure for the eponymous villa. With the architectural restoration designed by Massimiliano Fuksas, a multifunctional space was created with original innovations suitable for the presentation of both the permanent archaeological collection and art exhibitions, educational workshops, multimedia spaces, and an auditorium. The collection of artifacts at the Tuscolano Museum, located on the ground floor, represents one of the few historical collections in the province of Rome. The visit path, chronological-thematic, mainly refers to the Republican and Imperial eras, concluding in the historical-artistic section where models of the Tuscolan Villas are exhibited alongside several precious ancient engravings. The largest part of the collection is characterized by numerous materials found in Tusculum, including those recently discovered in the area of the Forum and Theatre by the Spanish School of History and Archaeology. In the historical-artistic section, ten wooden models of the Tuscolan Villas and numerous rare engravings and medals related to the Renaissance villas and famous personalities such as the Duke of York, bishop of the diocese of Frascati, are displayed.
