The current collection of the Museum is the result of numerous acquisitions, which have taken place since its inauguration in 1962 up to the most recent from the Museo delle Origini (2004) and the Prehistoric Ethnographic Museum L. Pigorini (2005).

The museum heritage essentially consists of two main collections:

The Gorga Collection, with ceramics from the Etruscan and Italic areas, dating from the Archaic to the Late Hellenistic age, and bronze materials of great significance in the Etruscan-Italic and Roman contexts.

The Rellini Collection, featuring materials from the Faliscan, Capenate areas and the Adriatic side.

In April 2004, of great importance was the transfer from the Museo delle Origini of the entire complex of historical age materials found in the so-called Faliscan caves excavations, conducted between the late 1800s and the first three decades of the 1900s by Angelo Pasqui, Raniero Mengarelli, and Ugo Rellini in the territories of Corchiano Falerii.

Very recent, finally, (October 2005) was the acquisition of a group of 63 artifacts (architectural and votive terracottas, ceramics, and metal tableware), once again extracted from the vast Gorga collection, deposited at the Prehistoric Ethnographic Museum L. Pigorini in Rome, further enriching the Museum’s exhibition landscape.
