From June 15, 2021, travelers from main international markets can enter Morocco with a vaccination certificate and/or a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours prior to arrival.
International flights are resuming: initially to Casablanca, Marrakech, Fez, Tangier, Rabat, with more airports set to open soon. Six major international airlines that operated to Morocco before the pandemic will restart flights from Italy, joined by a new carrier launching services from the country. This follows the Moroccan Government’s decision to allow tourists to enter the country by air, under certain health conditions recommended by the Health Ministry.
Tourists from countries on list A – such as Italy – can enter Morocco if they have a vaccination certificate or a negative PCR test result less than 48 hours old at the time of arrival. Vaccinated travelers just need to show a QR code upon arrival at the airport.
Since the start of the pandemic, Morocco has maintained a stable and low-risk health situation. In recent months, World Health Organization guidelines have been followed for the health and safety of all.
Currently, cafes and restaurants are open, applying safety measures requiring masks at the entrance and whenever leaving the table. Temperature checks are performed at the entrance and hand sanitizer is available. Entry and exit routes are separated for everyone’s safety. Private beach clubs also follow these protocols. For access and circulation, the general health rules are the same as for cafes and restaurants. In spas, entry and exit are via separate routes, social distancing is enforced, and masks are mandatory in common areas.
An advance reservation is required to fully enjoy your stay in Moroccan hotels, resorts, and riads. To guarantee the safety of all travelers, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Handicrafts, the Ministry of Air Transport, and the Ministry of Social Economy have introduced the “Welcome Safely” certification, which confirms that tourist accommodations meet national Covid-19 protocols.
Museums and cultural sites are currently open: temperature screening at the entrance is followed by hand disinfection. Entry and exit pathways are separated, and social distancing must be observed when waiting. Inside, masks are required. Cinemas and theaters are open and follow clear guidelines: marked paths for crowds, temperature screening, hand sanitizing, assigned and spaced seating, and mandatory masks for spectators.
In amusement parks, green areas, and public nature parks, regular hand sanitizing is recommended. Wearing a mask is mandatory, and it is advised to maintain a physical distance of at least one meter. In boutiques, shopping centers, and local stores, masks are required for everyone’s safety. Disinfectants and thermal scanners are available at all entrances. As entry numbers are limited, social distancing in queues is mandatory.
Tour guides are equipped with hygiene kits and audio equipment sanitized before and after every tour. Masks must be worn throughout the visit, social distancing respected, and hands sanitized after any contact.
To get around Morocco, various transport options are available: taxis, buses, trams, trains, coaches, and rental cars. On public transport, masks are required, social distancing is enforced, and you must sit in designated seats.
If you travel by car and are not alone, masks are mandatory.
Finally, note that a curfew at 11 p.m. remains in place, similar to the yellow zones in Italy.
