In the State Archive of Verona, within the first group, a particularly important collection is that of the ancient archive of the Municipality of Verona, with documents dating from 1405 to 1900.

From the Venetian domination period, important are the acts of the City Councils from 1405 to 1797; fundamental are the Tax Registers, the City Census records, and the series related to the Municipal Accounting Administration from 1630 to 1805, along with other series related to neighboring municipalities.

The second group includes the series of acts of the Venetian Rectors and the Fiscal Chamber (1405-1797). The Napoleonic era comprises the acts of the Verona Central Government (1797), the Vice Prefecture of the Verona District (1803-1805), and the Prefecture of the Adige Department (1805-1814).

Alongside the archives of Government Bodies, the Archive of the Civil and Criminal Court and the Special Court (1789-1812) is preserved. For medieval studies, all monastic archives merged after suppressions carried out by the Napoleonic Government are of great importance, containing about 85,000 parchment rolls and thousands of files, registers, maps.

About 50 family archives, donated or deposited, are also present, preserving not only registers, files, and parchments but also various drawings, which are crucial for the study of hydrography and watercourse regulation, essential to agricultural development.

Finally, besides the deeds of deceased Notaries (1409-1885), the Austrian-era cadastral records and the acts of all Peripheral Justice Administration Offices are kept. The preserved documentation covers a time span from 762 to 1965. Since March 30, 2015, the Archive has been relocated to the new headquarters at Via Santa Teresa, 6.
