Nell’State Archive of Verona in the first group, a fund of particular importance is that of the ancient archive of the Municipality of Verona with documents from 1405 to 1900.

From the Venetian domination period, important are the acts of the City Councils from 1405 to 1797; essential are the Tax Records, the City Registries, and the series related to the Municipal Accounting Administration from 1630 to 1805 and other series related to neighboring Municipalities.

In the second group belong the series of the acts of the Venetian Rectors and the Fiscal Chamber (1405-1797). To the Napoleonic period belong the acts of the Central Verona Government (1797), the Vice Prefecture of the Verona District (1803-1805), Prefecture of the Adige department (1805-1814).

Alongside the Government Bodies archives, the Archive of the Civil and Criminal Court of Justice and the Special Court (1789-1812) is preserved. For the study of the Middle Ages, all the monastic archives merged after the suppressions carried out by the Napoleonic Government are of great importance, containing only parchment material of about 85,000 rolls and thousands of files, registers, maps.

Noteworthy is the presence of about 50 family archives donated or deposited in which not only registers, folders, parchments but various drawings, very important for the study of hydrography and regulation of watercourses, indispensable for the development of agriculture, are preserved.

Finally, besides the acts of deceased Notaries (1409-1885), the cadastral funds from the Austrian era and the acts of all the Peripheral Offices of the Justice Administration are preserved. The documentation covers a time span ranging from 762 to 1965. Since March 30, 2015, the Archive has been transferred to the new location at Via Santa Teresa, 6.
